Students in Point Cook will have the modern classrooms and school facilities they need to get the great education they deserve, thanks to a new school being delivered by the Andrews Labor Government.

$53 million has been allocated in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 for the construction of a new vertical secondary school, Point Cook South Proposed Senior Secondary School, to open Term 1, 2020.

This school will be built for 1,100 students, assisting in alleviating enrollment pressures for surrounding schools and to meet demand of a growing population.

Sanctuary Lakes South P-9 has been allocated $3.129 million for its second stage of construction which includes the performing arts and physical education (PAPE) building.

Across Wyndham, the Andrews Labor Government is getting on with the job of building brand new schools for our rapidly growing suburbs and school communities.

The Labor Government today announced the Victorian Budget 2018/19 will include $353.2 million to build and plan for 28 new schools in Victoria’s fastest growing areas, including three for Wyndham.

The Budget includes $96.8 million to build Point Cook South Senior Secondary College, Wyndham South (Riverwalk) Primary School and Davis Creek Primary School to keep up with demand. In total, the Andrews Labor Government has invested almost $105 million into new schools’ in Wyndham.

These new schools will open in 2020, and means families in Point Cook, Wyndham, Werribee and Tarneit can have peace of mind that they will be able to access a great local school, close to home.

This boost for our growing suburbs will upgrade classrooms and school facilities across Victoria, helping teachers and giving more students the individual attention they need to get the 21st century education they deserve.

In contrast, in 2016 not one new school opened because the Liberals failed to plan for our growing state, while slashing $1 billion from the education budget. We won’t let that happen again.

Over the last three years, our investments total more than $2.8 billion, funding 1,200 school projects and upgrades, and building 70 new schools, as well as creating more than 5,000 jobs.
